Driving Standards Agency Approved Trainee Licence

Once you have passed parts 1 and 2 and have completed the required training at part 3, the Driving Standards Agency Approved Trainee Licence schem affords you the opportunity to gain experience in instructing pupils to drive. You will work on the same basis as a fully qualified Instructor and pupils will normally pay you direct for their lessons.

If you feel you would benefit from the experience of a trainee licence, you will be encouraged to do so. To meet DSA requirements, further additional part 3 training has to be undertaken whilst you are on a trainee licence. The cost of this training, which will be on a 1:1 basis, will be easily recouped from your business income.

Throughout the period of the licence you will be actively linked with a fully qualified trainer. Your trainer will become your mentor, offering ongoing and additional support in and out of the car.

The Trainee Licence lasts six months and normally only one is granted in the two-year qualifying period.
